Who profits the most off of viruses?
Do you rely on your anti-virus programs? Well truth is, anti-virus helps, but you should also think “outside of the box”. Who profits the most off of computer viruses? Well, anti-virus companies, and Microsoft. These companies could be using so many other coding techniques to secure your computer from viruses and possible hackers.
Why doesn’t Microsoft and Anti-virus companies use these techniques? Well, they want to keep profiting off of you. There is enough proof around that Microsoft, with all of their coders, techniques, money, and power.. they could easily make their operating system secure. Instead, they keep coming out with more operating systems in which seem to be actually even less secure.
So here is some information to keep your system secure:
If your Anti-virus application tells you that an executable file is safe, well it may not be. Hackers create applications called “packers” or “crypters” in which encrypt the executable, and make them undetectable by anti-virus companies. This is why you should not open a file unless you are certain the person or website you got it from is trust-able.

Actually, the people that makes most money out of malwares are the creator themselves. Imagine how many credit card numbers, and bank account info the malware creators collected by infecting PCs.
You know zombie PCs and Botnet? The creators of these collection of infected PCs are hired by some other bad guys for a fee to launch a Denial of Service attack to their target company.
Malwares existed because bad guys exist whatever their intentions are. And since Windows is the most popular Desktop OS, it’s also the most targeted because there is more opportunity for the bad guys to make money. AV companies exist because there is a need to fight these bad guys from the software level, educating the public, up to collaborating with law enforcement.
Not opening files from unknown source is one good recommendation.
Awareness is still the key to security.
Thanks for the comment, that actually depends though. Most of the BotNet harvesters in which use detectable code make maybe a couple hundred a week if they’re lucky. If you see some of these “black-hat” websites, you’ll see that people offer credit cards for as low as $2, hacked paypals as low as $0.50; as it takes them skill to cash-out these bank accounts & credit cards. Where as usually anti-virus costs about $50+ to buy, and most of them you’ll have to pay more to update. Now of course, there are the ones who infect you and have it automatically visit the site in which is supposedly “anti-virus” in which removes their own virus that they put on your computer.
