Well, these seem to be the latest and greatest ways for bot masters to spread their malware! We all know that Peer-to-Peer is all about sharing files in which you do not want to pay for. This, of course, is illegal. So now not only can you get fined or go to jail for using some of these applications, but you have a very high risk of getting your computer infected!

Some ways to prevent getting viruses would be reading the Common Viruses vs Common Sense article. Not only this, but if you are in using such high-risk software, we also recommend having a very good firewall and anti-virus. Having all of these, will make Peer-to-Peer relatively low risk for you. Also, most viruses are passed in the extensions of “.exe” and “.scr”, so limiting use of these extensions in Peer-to-Peer applications will lower your risk of being infected.
